About 500 patients have been trained in various handicrafts and are working, either in the workshop or home industry. The goods produced have a wide market in India and abroad. The proceeds of the sales cover the recurrent expenditure including the wages of the workers and also provide various benefits to the workers like interest free housing loan, health benefit, pension scheme, footwear allowance, spectacle allowance etc.
There are 5 handicraft sections:
Wood carving
Textile printing
Paper printing
General crafts
Sewing
In addition, there is a 2 year carpentry training program for the youth from lower economic status and a rural background. They are paid a stipend to cover their expenses and provided food & accommodation at subsidized rates.
